What is Semax?

The fragment is taken from adrenocorticotropic hormone but stops short of the portion responsible for the hormone's endocrine activity, so it does not act as ACTH does. The Pro-Gly-Pro tail is a stabilising element that slows degradation relative to the bare fragment. Studied in neuroprotection and BDNF-expression models.
